All legal matters seem to be unpleasant to us mere mortals that have no legal training. Representation by a qualified attorney can make the experience much less unpleasant. What does it take to find a good attorney? Ask around, check the internet and phone book, talk to the lawyer, and most of all, get references. Make sure someone you know knows someone that used the attorney and like working with the firm.

The business pages in your phone book will display plenty of names in regards to attorneys in your area. Sift through the names, check out the descriptions, and create a small list of lawyers you think you may be interested in. Use your intuition when looking at pictures of the lawyers. The one's you have a connection with will just "click" with you when you look at them. Using your logic is also highly recommended. Steer clear of lawyers who have a bad reputation.

The internet has made all searches and research much easier. Everything is just a click away. If you're looking for a Alabama DUI lawyers or an injury lawyer, enter the term and your location into your search engine. Go thru the list and find a few firms that seem to match your needs. Bookmark the website or write down the name of any attorney and phone number that interests you.

Ask your acquaintances if they know of a lawyer who has done great job for them or someone they know. Asking for recommendations is the best steps you can take, you'll get firsthand advice and opinions from someone with experience with the attorney they recommend.

Now it's time to do some research on your potential attorneys. You can check out places like AVVO.com for ratings but keep in mind that these are not the end all be all. They are just a guide.

Talking to the attorneys on your list is a must. By personally interviewing these attorneys, you'll be able to determine whether or not you will like working with them. Make sure to also talk to their staff because you will probably interact with them more than the attorney.  If you and one of your candidates don't see eye-to-eye on something important, just move on to the next one.

Don"t waste your time hiring on wrong attorney. Take the time to research and find exactly what is right for you and your case.
